MRS. HARRIET LONGENECKER

Mrs. Harriet Dilling Longenecker, wife of Harry Longenecker of Clappertown, died at her home on Monday, June 22, at 10:50 a.m., following a long illness. She had been an invalid since July 1936, when she suffered a stroke. February of this year she became seriously ill, suffering from a heart ailment.

Mrs. Longenecker was born at the Casper Dilling, Sr. homestead at Fredericksburg, Oct. 22, 1867, the daughter of John H. and Susannah Hoover Dilling. She was twice married. Her first husband, Harry N. Dilling, passed away a few months after their marriage.

She was united in marriage with Mr. Longenecker on Jan. 10, 1897, Elder George W. Brumbaugh officiating. They resided for many years in the Clover Creek section near Williamsburg, moving to their present home in Clappertown in 1918. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren for sixty years, and was a faithful Christian throughout her life, making many sacrifices to serve others.

Mrs. Longenecker was the last of her father's family of ten children. She is survived by her husband and five children: John H. of Saxton; Elsie, wife of Homer Shriner of Hickory Bottom; Bertha, wife of Rev. Earnest Brumbaugh, residing near Williamsburg; Lester, residing on the home farm at Clappertown, and Paul, of the airport road near Martinsburg. There are also twenty-three grandchildren. An infant son preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held this Thursday at 2:30 p. m., in the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren at Fredericksburg, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Emmert Frederick of Roaring Spring, assisted by Rev. D. I. Pepple of Woodbury. Interment was made in the Brumbaugh cemetery at Fredericksburg.
