Delia Mae Burton Blackburn, 64, of San Antonio, Texas, died in the late hours of Sunday, July 4, 1976. Delia dedicated her life to helping others. She received her education at Southwest Texas State Teachers College (now Southwest Texas State University) and completed her medical training at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas, after which she spent the next thirty-plus years serving as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the San Antonio, Texas area. In addition to nursing, Delia enjoyed reading and writing poetry. Two years before her passing, she had a book of her own original work, entitled Kaleidoscope, published.
At the time of her passing, Delia Mae was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Annie Burton, and husband Jewel Joseph Patterson. She leaves behind husband Monroe Blackburn, four daughters, Roanna and Evonne Patterson, Susan and Kay Blackburn, and one son, Jewel A. Patterson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
