Milton S. Parker, Sr.
Milton S. Parker, Sr., passed away April 8, 1989, in Lake City, Florida, at the age of 82. Brother Parker had preached for the Lord's church in twelve southern states over a period of 65 years. His local works included serving congregations in Lake City. Spring Warrior, Daytona Beach, Magnolia, Perry, Ft. Pierce and Mayo, Florida; Newport, Ravens Branch and Mt. Olivet, Tennessee; Trenton, Homerville and Rising Fawn, Georgia; Clinton, Woodruff, Duncan, Williston and Union, South Carolina; Woodleaf and Wilmington, North Carolina; and Marfa and ·wickett, Texas. Parker and his wife, Mertie, both attended Freed-Hardeman College, Henderson, Tennessee, in 1926, and have the unique distinction of being the first married couple to attend the school. They sat at the feet of the illustrious N. B. Hardeman and other great teachers while there. Brother Parker is survived by his wife, Mertie, Lake City; two sons, Milton S. ''Bud" Parker, Jr. (an elder in Lake City), and Taft Parker, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; four daughters, Margie Newby. Martha Pitts and Jackie Hill, all of Trenton, Georgia, and Peggy Tomplins, Lake City. The funeral was conducted in Lake City, with the burial at Day, Florida, near his place of birth.
