Virginia Hoge Scott, 91, of 6 Garden Center Drive, Greensburg, formerly of Waynesburg, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, September 17, 1999, in Redstone Highlands Nursing Home, Greensburg.
She was born February 22, 1908, in Waynesburg, a daughter of Mary Louella Mitchell and William M. "Wid" Hoge.
Mrs. Scott was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg.
She taught elementary school in Waynesburg School District for 40 years and was a life member of the National Education Association and a member of the Pennsylvania and Greene County Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Scott was a former member of Emerald Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 135 and Greene County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She was a volunteer for many years at the Cherry Door in Waynesburg and was a member and past president of the Mothers Study Club and a member of the National and Greene County Arc Association.
Her first husband, F. Raymond Scott, died in 1958; and her second husband, Ralph B. Scott, died February 8, 1983.
Surviving are two grandchildren, Janet L. and Randy Scott; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Hoge of Waynesburg; a stepson, Bob Scott of Waynesburg; and a stepdaughter, Thelma Scott of Waynesburg.
Deceased are a son, William R. Scott; a great-grandson; three sisters, Thelma L. Baxter, Mildred H. Brigamin and Aldine Meader; and a brother, Kenneth Hoge.
SCOTT - Friends of Virginia Hoge Scott of 6 Garden Center Drive, Greensburg, formerly of Waynesburg, who died Friday, September 17, 1999, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 20, with the Rev. Steve Welker officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
