Sister Weds At Double Ceremony
Miss Mary Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan H. Baker, of 539 Rockland street, was wed to Russell S. Schober, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Schober, of 473 Rockland street Friday morning at 10 o'clock in the Faith Reformed church. Rev. H. F. Hafer officiated.
Miss Baker's sister, Miss Betty Baker, became the bride of William P Heaps, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William P. Heaps of 304 Dauphin street during the same ceremony. The double ceremony was performed in the presence of the immediate families.
Mrs. Schober chose a gown of nile green crepe with navy blue accessories and a corsage of pink rose buds and daisies. Mrs. Heaps selected a cerise silk gown with navy accessories and a corsage of roses and sweet peas.
Mr. and Mrs. Schober will reside at 444 East Chestnut street and Mr. and Mrs. Heaps will reside at the home of the bride's parents, 539 Rockland street.

Mary Elizabeth Schober, state retiree
Mary Elizabeth (Baker) Schober, 87, of St. John's Herr Estate, Columbia, formerly of 850 Gail Place, died of natural causes Tuesday at Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
A retired state employee, Mrs. Schober was an inheritance tax appraiser for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Lancaster County for 11 years.
She was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church, where she was the former finance secretary and choir member.
At St. John's Herr Estate, she ran the store and was very active in various events.
She enjoyed classical music and reading.
Born on Hebrank Street in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Nathan Hale and Jennie G. Steele Baker.
Her husband Russell S. Schober died in 1996.
Surviving are a son, Dale R., married to Debra J. Schober of Landisville; a daughter, Eileen F., married to Dale Hurlburt of Landisville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, John W., married to Yvonne Yuninger Baker of Strasburg; three sisters, Dorothy M. Kurtz, Dawn M. Herr and Nancy J. Vital, all of Lancaster; and a half-sister, Katherine Sener of Bellingham, Wash.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles "Pat" Baker; three sisters, Sarah L. Thatcher, Barbara A. Colson and Betty Heaps; two half-brothers, M. Luther and Harry Baker; and a half-sister, M. Esther Lamparter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from Ascension Lutheran Church, 800 Penn Grant Road, Willow Street, PA, on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 12 noon with the Rev. Steven R. Bowser officiating. Interment in Mellinger's Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11 am until time of service.
