Jim C. Longan

Frontenac - Jim C. Longan, 62, of Frontenac, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 1996, at Mt. Carmel Medical Center of Pittsburg. He had been in ill health for 13 months and a patient in the hospital for 1 1/2 days.
Mr. Longan was born Nov. 23, 1933, at Pittsburg, to Clifton and Ruth Trout Longan. He lived in Pittsburg all his life and graduated from Pittsburg High School.
He married Margie Martinous on Sept. 11, 1952 at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed in California.
Mr. Longan owned and operated the Longan Floral and Garden Center in Pittsburg from 1969 until ill health forced him to retire in October of 1995.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, the American Nurseryman's Association, Greenhouse Growers of America, and the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Dan Longan; a daughter, Linda Hirst; a brother, Dick Longan of Washington State; a sister, Patrica Guilhempe of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Longan; and a sister, Juanita Bedene.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Sacred heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, with Fr. Patrick York as celebrant. Burial will be in the Catholic section of Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. The parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.
