born at Mt. Pleasant just outside Port Angeles, WA spent his youth exploring the Olympic Mtns. with his brothers and worked as a U.S. Forest Service Ranger before it became Olympic Nat'l. Park and then worked for the road department at the park until 1953 when he became supervisor of roads at Yosemite Nat'l. Park, CA. He has 4 children, Howard, Theodore (Ted), James (Jim), and Rosemary. He retired from the U.S. Park Service after 37 years of service in 1968 and returned to Port Angeles where he and his wife Lucille had property on Deer Park Rd. He continued to log and clear land until his death. His family came to Port Angeles from the upper peninsula of Michigan in 1898 and he was experienced in logging, heavy equipment and mill work.He maintained the road to Deer Park for many years for the ski area when it was located there. He is listed as one of the first 50 employees of Olympic Nat'l. Park when it was formed.
