Clermont, FL — John Tate Hurley, 68, Clermont, passed away May 14, 2010 at South Lake Hospital. He was born January 19, 1942 in Alpena, Arkansas son of Elwin Keith Hurley & Rosemary Tate Hurley. On August 21, 1965

He was united in marriage to Dawn Marie Camp in Oak Park, IL.

He was a Quality Assurance and Research and Development Manager for Wrigley for 13 years, followed by Technical Director for Tootsie Roll. He was a Clermont resident since 2001 from Orlando.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Terry Hurley.

Surviving is his wife Dawn Hurley of the residence; sons James E. Hurley, Boca Raton; Shawn P. Hurley & his wife Diane, Pingree Grove, IL & John "Eric" Hurley & his wife Johna, Boynton Beach; grandchildren Keith, Aubrie & Brianna & sisters Keesie Mitchell & husband Calvin, Bonita Springs; Ann Juckett & husband Ray, Alpena, Arkansas & Cathy Oates & husband Randall, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The memorial service for John Tate Hurley will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 21, 2010 in the Becker Chapel. Reverend Dr. Walt Fowler will officiate. Inrunment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, 386 Park Avenue South, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016.

John Tate Hurley, 68, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010.

He was born Jan. 19, 1942, in Alpena, the son of Elwin Keith Hurley and Rosemary Tate Hurley. He graduated from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville with a degree in Chemistry. During his career, he worked as a Quality Assurance, Research and Development Manager for Wrigley Chewing Gum Corp., followed by Technical Director for Tootsie Roll Company. He had lived for more than 20 years in Florida. He had been a resident of Clermont, Florida, since 2001.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Terry Hurley. Surviving family include his wife of 44 years, Dawn Hurley, of Clermont, Florida; three sons, James Hurley of Boca Raton, Florida; Shawn Hurley and his wife, Diane, of Pingree Grove, Illinois, and John "Eric" Hurley and his wife, Johna, of Boynton Beach, Florida; grandchildren Keith, Aubrie and Brianna; three sisters, Mary Keith Mitchell and her husband, Calvin, of Bonita Springs, Florida; Ann Juckett and her husband, Ray, of Alpena; and Cathy Oates and her husband, Randall, of Fayetteville. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will miss him a lot.

A "Celebration of Life" memorial service in John's memory will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at the Batavia Baptist Church. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alpena Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 67, Alpena, AR 72611.

I'll miss my brother, John. He will never be forgotten.I would like to correct an error. John is not being buried in Alpena. His burial will be in Florida. We will have a memorial service in Alpena, however. His burial will be in Clermont, FL, where he lived.
