Enlisted on July 1, 1862 at Forsyth County, North Carolina as a Private in the 33rd North Carolina Infantry, Company D at the age of 21. POW on May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia. Confined on May 18, 1864 at Point Lookout, Maryland. Transferred on August 8, 1864 to Elmira, New York. Died of pneumonia as a POW.
