Terre Haute Tribune obit dated 29 November 1995, page 02 reads: Evelyn W. Shook, 93, of Terre Haute died at 10:15 am Tuesday, November 28, 1995, in Union Hospital. She was a retired licensed practical nurse, having worked at Clay County Hospital in Brazil. She was born June 20, 1902 in Haverig-Whitehaven Cumberland, England to Thomas Woodend and Hanna Atkinson Woodend. Her first husband, William Cooper died in 1953.

Survivors include her husband, Rupert Kenneth Shook, Sr; one son, Robert I. Cooper of Terre Haute; one stepson, Rupert Kenneth Shook, Jr. of Indianapolis; two stepdaughters, Nora Jane Royer of Terre Haute and Ellen Macfarlane of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Evelyn Wheeler; and two sons, William Cooper and Phillip Cooper.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member and former Chaplain of Chapter 43 Order of Eastern Star, member of Wabash Valley Senior Citizens, past director of the Kitchen Band for 14 years, and member of Armie Social Club, Golden Age Club, Wayne Newton American Legion Post 346 Auxiliary and Brazil Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Services are 10 am Friday in Callahan & Huges Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Carpenter and Marcia Carpenter officiating. Burial is in Summit Lawn Cemetery.
