She was born August 29, 1908 to Benjamin Gahagan and to Effie Virden Gahagan, in Prentiss County, MS. She was a member of East Fulton Baptist Church and was a co-owner, operator of a service station in Zion, IL.
She is survived by a daughter, Mildred Dozier and husband, Jimmy, of Zion; a son, Paul Hughes, of Alexandria, VA; daughter-in-law, Linda Hughes of Zion, IL; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, three step great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thurman Earl Hughes; a son, Robert Hughes; a baby, Thurman Earl Hughes Jr.; a grandson, Bobby Hughes; three sisters, and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at Senter Funeral Home. Services officiated by Brother Eugene Digby. Interment East Fulton Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, February 13, 2001.
