UNFORGETABLE! Spida Man! "Finger Lickin' Good!"

Steve's given name was Larry Steve Johnson, but we all knew him as "Steve". He lived with his mother, in the 1500 block of 18th avenue, in Melrose Park,Illinois. Steve was one of the original members of the "Garage Gang". He attended Stevenson Elementary School in Melrose Park and Proviso East High School in Maywood, Il. He graduated from there in 1972. He proudly drove a brand new RED Chevy van in the mid 1970's. He stood 6'4" and was very lean, which is how he got the nick name "Spider". For a time, he lived in Boston, Massachusetts. The Bostonians couldn't pronouce the end of the word, and so that name evolved to "Spida"! Steve had brown eyes and wore thick glasses that made his eyes look huge. He loved Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop of the Stooges. Steve introduced me to Red Eye gravy and country ham. He was from Tennessee. He met his wife (name withheld for privacy) in Boston in the 1980's. The happy couple moved to his homeland, "God's Country", as he called it. It was there, that he so sadly, passed away. Steve was a live wire and will always be loved and remembered most fondly by his many friends and family.

Comments that friends have made:

Andy M. "Steve was one of a kind. I miss him so much. One can not ask God for a better friend in life. Left us way to early. All of us who called him a friend have great memories of our time with him. He was my friend and brother and is with me everyday."

Monica M. "I only talked on the phone with him, for hours and I got to love him and I miss him too".

Pam E. "He was a cool dude and everyone loved him."

Laurel B. "Steve, a little piece of you lives on in the hearts of those who loved you, and a little piece of each of us died when you left. You were larger than life and we shall never forget you."

Mags R. "The last time I saw Steve was at our wedding in San Diego, August 1991 -- he and Kathleen danced with everyone there. He was gone one year later and sorely missed."

Rob R. " The friendliest and kindest person I ever met. They don't make 'em like Steve anymore. I will always miss him."

PLEASE contact me if you knew Steve. I believe he had a brother who lived in the South. I think his mother passed away before Steve did.
