A Mass of Christian Burial for Susan L. Skomski, a veteran of World War II and co-owner of the former Skomski Funeral Home in North Tonawanda, will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Niagara Falls Boulevard and Melody Lane, North Tonawanda, following prayers at 10:30 in Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St., North Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.

Mrs. Skomski, 77, of Demler Road, Wheatfield, died Wednesday (Jan 18, 1995) in Buffalo General Hospital.
A native of Snow Hill, N.C., the former Susan L. Vandiford was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps Fifth Evacuation Hospital form 1942 to 1945, serving in Normandy and Germany.

She was the co-owner with her husband, Stanley T., of the former Skomski Funeral Home until he died in 1970. Mrs. Skomski also worked as a registered nurse in the maternity department at De Graff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda until she retired.
She was a member of the board of the Tonawanda Branch of the American Association of Retired Persons, a life member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Stephen Sikora Post 1322, American Legion in North Tonawanda, and a member of the St. Albert the Great Church and Dom Polski Women's Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, James M. of High Point, N.C., and S. Thomas of North Tonawanda; a daughter, Susan K. Purcell of Littleton, Colo.; three sisters, Christine Oakley and Rivers Horne, both of Ayden, N.C., and Margaret Drake of Vashon Island, Wash,; four grandchildren,; and a great-grandchild.
