After a short, valiant fight with septic shock resulting in multiple organ failure, Michael, filled with abundant peace, passed with humor, grace and dignity while holding his sisters' hands. He passed away at 3:05 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. His last concerns were as always for his family, but he was so grateful to be home surrounded by them. With endless love and wet kisses, he lived his life trying to be the best son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Michael was born October 9, 1954 in Thermopolis, Wyoming to William E. and Shirley M. Wight. The fifth of six rambunctious children, living laughing rough housing through Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado, Montana, and Utah, an unbreakable family unit.

His vibrant personality made him an accomplished sales person, entertainer, actor, and singer. Michael traveled much of the country working in these fields; he loved living in the South West among the mountains and the landscapes that were such a part of his soul. "The eagle wants a canyon in a place where he can rest his wings a while."

Michael was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Laura Anderson. Survived by siblings, Ron (Cathy) Wight, Linda Loma, Patrick (Cheri Reid) Wight, Tracey (Dale) Parks; nieces and nephews, Robyn (Patrick Hayes) Geist, Kimmie (Aaron) Newman, James Hartman, Rachel (Mark Balboni) Geist, Kallie (Nick Miller) Roberts, Tyler (Angel Bird) Anderson, twelve great-nieces and nephews, and his other brother and best friend, Patrick Donahue.

Please join us in a celebration of his life on Thursday, May 27, 2010 (Lori's birthday) at 1:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West).
We will have a short visitation, the service, and entombment to follow.
