Mr. John Jeffrey Bilbrey, 51, of Cookeville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15th, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Bilbrey was born in Akron, Ohio on June 29, 1958, the son of the late Robert L. Bilbrey and Charlotte (Wireman) Bilbrey. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked as a Sergeant in the Cookeville Police Department for 20 years before his retirement. He cherished working in his yard and his flowers and had a soft heart for rescuing stray animals. He was a devoted loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Mr. Bilbrey is survived by daughters, Amy E. Bilbrey of Livingston and Victoria L. Bilbrey of Phoenix, Arizona; sons, Andrew P. Bilbrey of Algood; granddaughter, Cheyenne R. John of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Lisa S. Racin and husband Stephen of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Shirley Price and husband Terry of Tallmadge, Ohio and Barbara D. Barger of Cookeville; brothers, James Bilbrey and wife Anne of Medina, Charles H. Bilbrey and wife Patricia of Bradenton, Fla.; aunt, Dovie Croy of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; he is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Robert L. Bilbrey.

Mr. Bilbrey has chosen cremation and Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 17th at Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Thornton officiating. Honors will be provided by the members of the Cookeville Police Department. The family will receive friends on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
