Keith R. Phelps Jr., son of Keith R. Phelps and Corrine (Crockett) Phelps was born December 1, 1936, in Kirksville, Mo., and died Tuesday, November 13, 1990, at the age of 53 years, while working in Kirksville
He was married to Vaunda Pipes on August 14, 1955, in Kirksville, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Raymond E. Phelps, Greentop, and Scott K. Phelps, Greentop; two daughters, Mrs. J.B. (Debra) Arnold, Kirksville, Mo., and Mrs. Von R. (Tamela) Dole, Green City, Mo.; five grandchildren, James Arnold, Jeffrey Arnold, Carl Phelps, Kevin Phelps, and Joshua Dole; and his mother, Corrine Phelps, Greentop.
Mr. Phelps graduated from Brashear High School. He had spent most of his life in the Kirksville, Mo., area until moving to Greentop six years ago. He worked 18 years for a bread company and for the past eight years had been caretaker at Highland Park Cemetery, Kirksville, Mo. He had been a 4-H leader in Schuyler County for the past three years. He was engaged in farming most of his life.
Services were held Friday, November 16, 1990, in Travis-Noe Funeral Home, Kirksville, Mo., with the Rev. Archie Cooper conducting. Music was provided by Melodie Sevits, soloist, accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Special selections were "Amazing Grace" and "Going Down the Valley."
Bearers were Dennis Moran, Dennis Shultheiss, David Shultheiss, Jodi Sayre, Pete Pipes and Larry Ellis.
Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery, Kirksville.
