ELIZABETHTON - Jack Ross Peters, 79, Siam Road, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday April 25, 2010, in the Life Care Center, Elizabethton. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Mike and Texie Calhoun Peters. He was retired from the Park & Recreation Department of Miramar, Florida. Prior to that he had lived in Mishawaka, Indiana. Mr. Peters served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Delma Hazlewood. Survivors include a daughter: Michele Peters, of the home; A son: Robert Peters, Hollywood, Florida; Three Grandchildren: Brittny, Jesse and Dylan Meiss; Two sisters: Janet "Gail" White, Hampton, and Carolyn Magnuson and husband, Terry, Mishawaka, Ind.; Three Brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill & Mary Peters, Elizabethton, George "Buster" and Nancy Peters, Deer Park, NY, and Steve & Sherri Peters, Lawrenceville, Georgia; Several Nieces & Nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral Services were conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Hilton and Pastor Kenneth Davis. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday April 30, 2010, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City. Music will be provided by Ralph Moore. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Friday, will be: Jesse Meiss, Ralph Moore, Jeremy Peters, Zane Peters, Kendall Tom and Tyler Olsen. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dylan Meiss and Corbin Hazlewood. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 49. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of his brother, Bill Peters, Elizabethton, or the residence of his sister, Janet "Gail" White, Hampton.
