VISTA - Martha Jane (Hendon) Pulis Anderson, 91, was reunited with her creator, on Thursday, September 7, 1995.
She was born in Schell City, MO, on January 31, 1904. At a very young age her family relocated to Greenville, IL, where she received her education as a school teacher. She devoted 30 years to this career in Illinois, taught at the University of Wisconsin for several years, and retired from her profession in 1970 after teaching for an additional 6 years in Chula Vista, CA. She has been remembered, loved and respected by her many students over the years truly because she was an exemplary force in their training and education.
Martha lived in California for the last 32 years of her life. She was a member of the Tri-City Baptist Church in Vista and taught and participated in many bible study groups in her retirement years. She is survived by her husband, Lester H. Anderson, her twin daughters Jean Cicon of Vista and Jane Currie of Northbrook, IL, a nephew, Ross Myers of Greenville, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Martha's remains will be returned to her beloved Greenville. Arrangements are under direction of Humphrey Mortuary of Chula Vista, CA. A memorial service will be held at the Rancho Calevero Community Center, 3570 Calevero Lane, Oceanside, CA for family and friends at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 1995, with the Rev. John Baird officiating. In lieu of flowers, donating may be made to Vista - Sharp Home Health/Hospice, 1800 Thibodo Rd., Suite 100, Chula Vista, CA 92083.
Martha will live on forever in the hearts and minds of those she touched.
