Mrs. A. Phillips Passes Saturday of Brief Illness
Mrs. Elsie Phillips, 55, wife of Alfred Phillips, of 428 Huron avenue, passed away at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at St. Nicholas hospital after a two days' illness.
Born in the town of Meeme on Jan. 22, 1891, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Heckmann, she was married on April 6, 1915. The couple operated cheese factories in Osman and Belgium and a farm in Spring Valley. After residing in Kiel for 13 years, they spent the last three years in Sheboygan.
The deceased enjoyed her family and was well known for her love of flowers and embroidery work.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Norwood and Beverly of Sheboygan; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Arlyle) Markgraf and Mrs.Roger (Bernett) Augustine of Sheboygan; three brothers, Henry ofPlainfield, Ill., Elmer of Menominee, and Cranston of Spring Valley; three sisters, Mrs. Augusta Schultz of Greenbush, Mrs. Emil Voss of Newton, and Agnes of Highland Park, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Ballhorn Funeral chapels at 1:15 Wednesday afternoon and at 2:30 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church at Lewis Corners. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. The Rev. Harold Gruenwald will officiate.
