Mother of Rush Olga Rhoades.
Last surviving child of Joseph and Ann Spencer Rhoads, she was born just prior to the family migrating from North Carolina to Arkansas.
Julie never married and lived with her son and his wife Tommye until she died. Known for her quilts and wearing a sunbonnet, she never let anything get her down. A robust woman, she would walk the Dutch Creek road and over the mountain to visit her sister Christiana Parker in Gravelly. Everyone knew who she was from the sunbonnets she made and wore. She was also known as a master quilter. Her Franklin sewing machine, though in poor shape from having sat in her barn for over 50 years, is in my possession. A true pioneer of early Arkansas.
