Frederick ‘Fred' G. Alsbury

Frederick "Fred" G. Alsbury, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 25, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital in Libby. He was born Sept. 21, 1931, in Imperial, Neb., to Fred and Pauline Alsbury. Fred attended elementary school in Nebraska and completed his education in Colorado.

He worked as a rancher in Colorado. Later Fred completed auctioneering school and worked with his family in their business. Fred moved to Libby in 1967, where he worked for W.R. Grace until his retirement in 1983. He ran a post and pole business, supplying fence posts for many residents.

Fred loved to fish. He made several trips to Neah Bay, Wash., in his Gulf boat and spent the last 12 winters in Arizona enjoying sunshine and fishing.

Fred was a member of Libby Christian Church and loved sharing his faith with everyone.

Fred married Carolyn "Carol" Duszynski on Sept. 27, 1985. She survives in Libby.

Also surviving are sons DeWayne and Rex Alsbury, both of Libby; stepsons James Geil of Kent, Wash., Chad Geil of Queens Creek, Ariz., and Jayson Duszynski of Anchorage, Alaska; his favorite daughter, Debbie Saiz of Atlanta, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Cerise of Carbondale, Colo.; his mother-in-law, Mary E. Johnson of Libby; a sister-in-law, Shirley Alsbury of Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Don Alsbury and stepson Craig Geil.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Libby Christian Church. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
