Martin Thorson Aas was born in Sogn Sonsvar, Norway, May 9, 1859. On May 28, 1881 he was united in marriage to Rine Andrlne Olenmon. Mr. and Mrs. Aas left Norway for America May 25, 1883 and came to Erhard Grove, Otter Tail County on the 14th day of June, 1883. To Mr. and Mrs. Aas was born three daughters, Mrs. Anton S. Johnson, Noonan, ND, Mrs. E. L. Read, Jamestown, ND and Mrs. E. O. Helgeson of Columbus, ND.

In 1897, Mrs. Martin Aas passed away and was burled at Erhard Minn., where she and the other members of the family held membership in the Bagstevold Lutheran church.

Mr. Aas continued to make his home at Erhard and in 1909 was united in marriage to Mrs. Caroline Nordrum and this same year Mr. and Mrs. Aas moved to Rothsay, Minn., where they resided until 1913 when they moved to Fergus Falls, Minn., to make their home. Here his second wife passed away in 1917.

During the latter part of 1934 his heart began to fall him, and he was brought to his daughter's home ln Jamestown, ND, where Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Read gave him needed care. On February 25, 1935, he passed away leaving to mourn his departure the afore-mentioned children and three step children, Hans Nordrum of Washington, Ole Nordrum of Grand Forks, ND., Emil Nordrum, Barnesville, Minn., and two brothers, Gustave Lund of Wildrose, ND., and Carl Kastet of Sansver, Norway, besides a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at Bagstevold church at Erhard, Minn., Friday afternoon at two o'clock.

Services were conducted in Norwegian and English and Rev. Wisnaes of Fergus officiated. Miss Torvilk of Fergus rendered three beautiful solos, "Lord, I'm Coming Home," "Den Store Hvide Flok," "Jeg Ved Mig En Sovn I Jesu Navn."

There were many beautiful floral offerings and a memory wreath from friends and neighbors in Fergus Falls which was given to the Old People's Home.

Honorary pallbearers were C. A. Eidal, Hogen Kastelle, P. C. Renfjord, Ole Brenden, Fred Arnesen, Anton Nelson. Active pallbearers were S. Wahl and O. Wahl, G. Gilbertson, Ed Thompson, H. Ouren, M. Tweet.

Out of town relatives attending the services were Mrs. A. S. Johnson, Noonan, ND., Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Read and daughter, Jamestown, ND., Mrs. E. O. Helgeson, Columbus, ND., Mrs. O. H. Engh, Mrs. Bjornstead and son of Moorhead, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. O. Nordrum, Grand Forks, E. Nordrum, Barnesville, Minn., Mrs. P. Wego, St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. J. Edgekoski, Jamestown, ND., and a host of friends and neighbors from Fergus Falls.

The following floral tributes were received from near friends. A big casket spray from the three daughters, a big spray from Mr. and Mrs. Ole Nordrum and Emil Nodrum, a big spray from Mrs. O. H. Engh and Mrs. Bjornstad and son and Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Engh and Nora Engh. Bouquets from the following of Jamestown, North Dakota: Degree of Honor, Congregational Ladies Aid, Congregational Intermediate, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Miller and son Lyle, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Salkow, Jamestown Social Club, Congregational Sunday School. Also, a big casket spray from C. O. Myhra and A. Olen of Stanley, North Dakota, and Mrs. P. Wego of St. Paul, Minnesota.
