Aubrey Ware Allen, 70, of Stafford, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Mary Washington Hospital. He was the son of the late Irvin Price and Clara B. Allen of White Oak.

Survivors include two brothers, Gene Autry Allen and his wife, Christine and Gary N. Allen and his wife, Julia, both of Stafford; three sisters, Madeline A. English and her husband, Raymond, Deborah "Sis" Allen, both of Stafford, and Marita DeShazo and her husband, Richard of S.C.; an aunt, Mattie Price Newton Shelton; nephews, Johnny Allen, Michael Allen, Steve DeShazo, Allen DeShazo, Ray English, Keith English, Alan Rose; and nieces, Yvonne Payne, Beverly Hagar, Loretta James, Jacqueline Descaro, Margaret Clark, Barbara J. Newton, and Brenda Tina Palanico.

Aubrey worked as a small engine mechanic at Taylor Rental and self-employed at home in White Oak. Mr. Allen also worked at Pure Oil Co., in Fredericksburg, Munersco Plumbing Co., in Manassas, Dumfries Power Plant Co., M&B maintenance department in Quantico and Dahlgren Weapons Laboratory.

Aubrey loved to fish and hunt when he was a young man and liked to metal detect for civil war items with his dad and brothers.

Aubrey's nickname in the White Oak area was "Bugger." He was a meek kind of man to his family and friends and would help anyone.

Aubrey was a tribal member of Patawomek Indians of Virginia.

A memorial service will be held at the Locust Grove cemetery in White Oak at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the White Oak Rescue Co. No. 7, 535 White Oak Rd., Falmouth, VA 22406 or to the Cancer Center of VA, Attn: Renee Shank, 6105 Health Center Lane, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
