Funeral services for Alvin C. Mayfield, 86, of Lubbock, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Minister Jesse Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Buddy died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, in Lubbock. He was born Dec. 16, 1916 in Nashville, Ark. He married Lela Lee on Dec. 7, 1935 in Quitaque. Buddy served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Navy Sea Bee during WWII. He worked for Kerr Pavers and Elliot Taylor Construction as a heavy equipment mechanic, operator and shop foreman.

A son, Bobby and his wife, Nina; a daughter ,Claudine Smith and her husband, Gene; son-in-law, Burl Countryman; six grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren, survive Buddy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Lee Mayfield and a daughter, Mary Lou Countryman.
