Father Schramm was a native of the North Side of Pittsburgh, and received his elementary education at Most Holy Name School. Later, he attended both Duquesne University and St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe.
He was pastor of St. Peter's in the South Side beginning in 1951. When the old church building burnt down in 1952, he oversaw the construction of the building that stands today. He remained at St. Peter's until 1975, when he retired for health reasons. He died in 1980, at Suburban General Hospital in Bellevue. He was 76.
