In/abt 1903, John married the lovely Lina Deaton, daughter of Willam Deaton and (Mary) Anna Murphy. The happy couple became the proud parents of 4) daughters and (2) sons: Eva, Susan, Annie, Sallie, John and Vernon.
The family lives in a farmhouse and John pursues his occupation in agriculture on the surrounding acreage that he now owns. Children attend school.
It is Saturday, the 18th of April, in the year 1915; Spring has arrived and the world comes to life with yellow daffodils lifting their happy faces to the sun. A pleasant day for most, but a sad one for the family of John A Mays; at age 43, John has died from respiratory failure ending his struggle to survive Cancer.
Survived by Lina, his wife of 12 years, and their (6) children, there are many to mourn the loss of husband and father, so dear to their hearts.
On April 19th, 1915, John is laid to rest in the Johnson Cemetery in Heidrick, Knox County, Kentucky. A handsome stone marks the site.
