Edward married Jane Bush in Racine Sept. 16, 1840. She died January 18, 1858 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta. He married second Rachel Anna Phillips January 14, 1859, probably in Sparta. They had a son, Walter E. Blake. Edward served in the Civil War as a Captain, as Sanford E. Blake. Edward was a member of the GAR in Sparta and practiced law in Sparta and Milwaukee. He is buried next to his father, Levi, his mother, Mary, and his grandmother, Mary Sanford.
