Ronald L. Padgett, 75, of Morton died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010, at his home.

He was born March 21, 1935, in Vermont, Ill., to Clarence I. and Bessie Mae (Heflen) Padgett. He married Betty Dully on March 19, 1955, in Lewistown.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Padgett of Morton; one daughter, Rhonda Konieczny of Morton; and three granddaughters, Courtney, Melissa and Katelyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He was an Army veteran. Ronald worked 30 years at Caterpillar Inc., retiring as a skilled machinist from Building HH in East Peoria in March 1986.

He was a former member of United Auto Workers Local 974 in East Peoria. He was a member of Morton Masonic Lodge 352 AF & AM and the Peoria Consistory.

He was raised as a youth in the Methodist faith in Vermont, Ill.

Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
