First wife died in 1812 and John married Ann McElhinny who died in 1814. He died in 1821 and was laid to rest in a vault in the First Presbyterian churchyard between his two wives. The remains of all three were removed to the Wrenshall burial plot at Bridgeville when the excavation was begun for the new building now being erected
