JOHANNA BRITTON

PETERSBURG – Johanna Louise Britton, formerly of Broken bow, Nebraska, died Thursday, January 7 at the Garden County Nursing Home in Oshkosh, Nebraska. She was 70.

She was born May 26, 1913 in Custer County, the daughter of H. J. and Katie Juergens Marten. She married Harold Britton on March 2, 1941, and he preceded her in death, as did her parents; one son Joe David; and one brother Fred.

She graduated from Merna High School and attended Grand Island Business College for two years. She had been employed by the Custer County Extension Office for 25 years before retiring.

Mrs. Britton was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merna, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Ryno-Ash Creek Extension Club.

Surviving are a son, William H. of Oshkosh, Nebr.; two grand-daughters, Christine J. Sartwell and Cassandra J. Britton; one great granddaughter, Jacqueline A. Sartwell; two brothers, H. J. Marten and William A Marten, and a sister, Dorothy Davidson of Broken Bow, Nebr. Also surviving are cousins, Shirley and Jane Wahlbrink of Greenview, Dorothy King of Springfield, and Fred, Perry, Richard and Arthur Juergens, Thelma Blizek and Alia Montgomery of Petersburg.

Services were held January 12 at 10:00 a.m. in Merna, Nebraska and burial was in Merna Cemetery.
