Born in Lancaster County, S.C., Mr Griffin was a son of the late George B. Griffin, Sr.and Mary Crenshaw Griffin. He graduated from Indian Land High School and served in the U.S.Army Air Corp during WWII. Mr. Griffin was retired from Piedmont Natural Gas after 23 years of servics. He also was the owner and operator of Griffin Esso Station in Charlotte for 16 years. Mr Griffin was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He was a member of Indian Land Monsonic Lodge No. 414 and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rites Mason.
Surviving are his wife,Ovedia Stogner Griffin; two sons,George B.Griffin III of Fort Mill and David E.Griffin of Rock Hill; two sisters,Lena Rodgers of Pineville, N.C. and Betty Carrouth of Fort Mill, 12 grandchildren;26 great-grandchildern;and 19 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife,Wilma Henrietta Cox Griffin;his daughter,Nancy G. Blackwell,Peggy Griffin and Louise Griffin.
