Hezekiah V. Hammond

Hezekiah V. Hammond, son of Dee and Rose Hammond, was born March 25, 1905 and departed this life May 19, 1952 at the age of 47 years, 1 month and 24 days.
His father having preceded him in death at an early age; the duties of the home fell early upon his youthful shoulders. We among whom he has lived his life know how nobly those duties were met. His entire life has reflected his deep convictions about peace and goodwill toward his fellowman. He has taken his place in the affairs of the community and has been honored and respected by all who knew him.
Our friend Kie was not one to say a great deal about his inward spiritual convictions, and perhaps for this reason he never affiliated with any church here in this life. There is abundant evidence however, that he carried a deep and abiding faith in God.
The latter years of his life were spent in great physical suffering. These sufferings were borne with a patience and fortitude, which only the grace of God can give. He expressed to the writer and others that God would take care of him. Such a faith as this speaks louder and far more eloquent than mere words can possibly utter.
He was united in marriage to Jewell Bernard, Dec. 24, 1924, and to this union Two childern, were born, Gene Hammond of Weaubleau, Mo., and Keet Hammond of the home. He is survived by his wife and sons; his mother; Mrs. Rose Bernard; two sisters, Mrs Pearl Sherman of Wheatland, Mo. And Mrs. Noble Scott of Clinton, Mo., and one brother, Glen Hammond of Wheatland, Mo. Besides these, a number of nephews and nieces and more distant relatives too numerous to mention, along with many neighbors and friends.
We have lost a noble friend and neighbor, the family has lost a loving husband and father, but in this dark hour, may it please our Heavenly Father to sustain by His grace, and to say with one of old "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord."
Funeral services were held from Bernard Chapel, conducted by Rev. J. R. Moore, and Eld Wilmer Harper. Internment in Bernard cemetery. Services were under direction of Hathaway Funeral Home of Weatland.

Cards of Thanks

We wish to express our sincere thanks to all the relatives, friends and neighbors for each and every kind deed done during the sickness and death of our dear loving husband and father. May God bless each and every one.
