Obit in The Correctionville News, 2 September 1965, page 1: Funeral services for Mary J. Goodman, 96, who passed away Tuesday, August 24, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Correctionville, were held Friday, August 27, 1965, at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist Church in Correctionville with Rev. M.C. Melcher officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, under direction of Wilson-Hull Funeral Home. Mary J. Goodman, daughter of Absolem and Jane Miller, was born January 18, 1869, in Jackson Co., Iowa. She came to Woodbury Co. at the age of six months with her parents to the vicinity of Anthon. On January 21, 1886, she married Conrad O. Goodman at Anthon. To this union nine children were born. They lived on a farm near Rock Branch until retiring and moving into Correctionville in 1919. She was a member of the Methodist Church for over 50 years, joining at Rock Branch and later at Correctionville. She was a member of the Woman's Relief Corps. until it was disbanded. She was preceded in death by her husband and two daughters. Mr. Goodman passed away August 2, 1923, Edna in infancy and Ethel Chaussee in 1943. Survivors include four daughters, Ellen Bockwoldt of Ida Grove, Florence Ferns of Anthon, Bessie Halberg of Des Moines, Marie Goodman of Rock Island, Illinois, three sons, Oscar Goodman of Anthon, Frank Goodman of Correctionville, and Wayne Goodman of Fort Dodge, 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and other relatives.
