Born on March 13, 1897, in Guilford Township, he was a son of the late John and Ida Holsinger Vanderau.
He was a retired laborer.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Beatrice Newell Vanderau; a son, Donald I., 323 S. Fourth St.; eight grandchildren; three sister, Mrs. Myrtle Brechbiel of Mapleton Depot; Mrs. Sarah Heffner, R.R. 3 Greencastle; and Mrs. Ellen Leininger, 315 Stouffer Ave.; five brothers, Ralph of Middletown; Howard of R.R. 5; Jacob of R.R. 1 Waynesboro; Anthony and Paul, both of R.R. 3 Waynesboro.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday the Barbour Funeral home, with the Rev. Marlin K. Ressler officiating. Burial will be made in Norland Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
