Alverta M. Angle
SHIPPENSBURG -- Alverta Mae "Bertie" Angle, 91, of 43 1/2 W. King St., died on
Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 11, 1911, in Newville, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the
late Walter Byron and Lula Mae Yarlet Showaker.
She was a member of Shippensburg First Church of God and its King's Son's &
Daughter's Sunday School Class.
For 22 years, she was a seamstress at the former Shirtcraft Co., Shippensburg.
She retired with 21 years of service from the former G.C. Murphy Co.,
Shippensburg, where she was a cashier.
Surviving are her husband, Clarence K. Angle; a granddaughter, Jessica M. Gentry
of Newville; numerous nephews and nieces, including Larry E. Weaver of
Shippensburg; Jacque D. of Media; Bonnie C. Hathcock of Louisville, Ky.; and
Susan L. Montano of Shippensburg; two sisters, Janet Brewer of Bridgeport,
Conn., and Lola V. Wood of Newville; and a brother, Paul Showaker of Newville.
She was preceded in death by a son at birth, Clarence Angle Jr.; a nephew, John
"Mike" Gentry; five brothers; and two sisters.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Shippensburg First Church of God. The
Rev. Paul Tatum will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery,
Shippensburg.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home
Inc., 112 W. King St., Shippensburg.
