He was born in Kingstree, SC, March 8, 1934, son of the late Jasper Drose and Fannie Maye Drose.
Mr. Drose had been employed with Progress Energy (CP&L) for twenty-six years. He was a very active member of Seagate Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of Monks Branch Hunting Club.
Surviving is his wife of fifty-two years, Gloria McKay Drose; a son, Arden Drose (Lisa) of Mooresville, NC; a daughter, Kay West (Zeb) of Castle Hayne, NC; four grandchildren, Ashley Marx (Joe), Courtney West, Alex Drose, and Evan Drose; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Hailey, and Talon; a brother, Bill Drose (Ann) of Marion, SC; and a sister, Bertha Mae McCaskill (Lyde) of Sumter, SC. A great-grandson, McKay preceeded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2008, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel with the Rev. Dondi Pace officiating. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Sidney Daniels, Jamie Adams, Harold Miller, Martin Stubbs, Cran Bishop, and Hoyt Smith.
