Effie and Thomas married 22 Sept 1887 in Happy Valley, Shasta County, California.

Their first child a boy, Morris Franklin born June 1888 and died July 1888 shares a headstone with his cousin , daughter of Mary Caroline Montgomery Root, "Mary Elizabeth Root", buried in Happy Valley Cemetery in Shasta County.

Effie and Tom with his parents Jim and Mary Ann Earp Montgomery left Shasta and moved on to Selma in Fresno County where my grandfather James Walter was born in 1889.

They lost another baby in June of 1891, the same month it was born.
The last three children being born in Oregon where they had moved in the summer of 1903 after mother Mary Earp Montgomery had died.
The family lived in Camas Valley and Roseburg for a short time and then settled in Canyonville, Douglas County,Oregon.
My great grandmother died from bladder cancer , she was still recovering from an operation from the year before.
My great grandfather stated her birth as August 8, 1864 on her death certificate.
