1935: May 12th Charlotte Dies

Pioneer Home-Prescott Arizona Age 70, 5 mos, 9 days "lived in Arizona 49 years"

1935 May 13 Prescott Courier (?) Front page:
PIONEER OF ARIZONA SUCCUMBS AT HOME

Death, which yesterday claimed Mrs. Charlotte Ann Conard, struck again at the fast dwindling number of Arizona's early residents. Mrs. Conard, 84 years of age, had been a resident of this state since 1886 and a guest at the Arizona Pioneer's home, where she succumbed, since October 2, 1930. A native of Marysville, Calif., where she was born December 3, 1864, she removed to this state in her youth with her husband, the late G.N. Conard, made her home in Prescott for many years, later removing to Kingman, from which place she entered the home.

Mr. Conard, as well as being a pioneer of the state, was a pioneer in the automobile trucking and passenger stage business, operating an early route from northern Arizona to Prescott and on to the Camp Wood and Walnut Creek districts. Later he operated livery stables here and in Kingman.

Mrs. Conard is survived only by a niece, Mrs. Lucia Peterson of California. Efforts are being made to communicate with her, pending which definite funeral arrangements cannot be made. The body has been removed to the Lester Ruffner funeral home and it is expected internment will be in the Conard family plot at Mt. View."
