John Neidigh, an old and respected citizen of Martinsville township, was killed by a Vandalia passenger train about noon Monday. He was crossing the track just west of the depot, and a freight had backed up on the siding when he passed in front of it and stepped on the main track just as No. 9 was pulling into the depot. The train struck him and mashed up one side of his face and broke one arm in three places, besides other serious injuries.
