Born in Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Edward Crane (1813-1881) and Flavia Millard Crane (1798-1855). She married George W. Pike in 1853, and was the mother of five children: Henrietta, Aleda (m. Joseph Champion), Frances (m. John Zeltner), Dora (m. John Rapp and Frank Worthing) and George Alfred (m. Ada Woodard).
