She was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Ohio County, the daughter of Wesley and Alice Bryant Romans. She was raised and attended school in Ohio and Switzerland counties. She believed in keeping a beautiful home and caring for her family. She was a charter member of Faith Alliance Church for 26 years. She was currently a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She had lived in Madison the past 46 years.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Alfred K. Furnish, whom she married June 21, 1941; one son, Alfred E. Furnish of Aurora; two daughters, Sharon Higbie of Madison and Jodi Tienken of Florence, Ky.; one sister, Stella Bennett of Vevay; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Arthur, Isaac, Salem and Stanley Romans; eight sisters, Lelia Lauderbaugh, Mamie Morris, Amy Ehler, Hazel Bailey, Iva Marie Courtney, Edith Kelly, Falba Brinson and Bessie Scudder.
The funeral was at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial was in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
