Carolyn Sue Allen, 70, of Shawnee, KS, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the University of Kansas Hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 28, at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to: The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6950 Squibb Rd. Mission, KS 66202 or to Nall Avenue Baptist Church, 6701 Nall Ave. Prairie Village, KS 66208.

Sue was born September 26, 1939, in Hamilton, MO, the daughter of Oren and Leona Misenhelter. She was co-owner with her husband of Allen Armature & Electric in Kansas City, KS. Sue was a member of Nall Avenue Baptist Church and the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City.

She was preceded in death by her father Oren, step-father, Kenneth Adkison, and step-brother, Kent Adkison.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gary Allen, daughter, Pam (Larry) Shrakes, son Gary Dean (Vicki) Allen, grandchildren, Kyle & Kaitlin Allen, mother, Leona Adkison, sister, Shirley (Gordon) Swindler, step-brothers, Dean, Jewell, Clyde, and Dan Adkison, and step-sisters, Kay Hartley, Nancy Hawley, & Mona Bassett, and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Stites, his nurse Joyce, and all the nursing staff at KU especially unit 65 ICU for the great care and compassion which they provided.

Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed.
