Thomas M. Reese, 61, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at the VA Medical Center, Lebanon. He was the husband of Elizabeth M. (Hirsch) Reese, to whom he was married 10 years on February 12, 2010. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail L. Shellhamer Reese, who died May 2, 1994. Born in Denver, Pa., on December 12, 1948, he was the son of the late Octavius H. and Dorothy (Roth) Reese. He was a 1966 graduate of Ephrata High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart. He was the owner/operator of Reese's Auto Service & Sales, Myerstown, for 26 years until his retirement in 2010. He enjoyed weight lifting, going to the gym, and riding motorcycles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer, wife of Sean Firestine of Myerstown; granddaughters, Grace and Evelyn Firestine, both of Myerstown; stepdaughter, Kate Steinmetz of Seattle, Wash.; stepsons, Matthew Steinmetz of York, and Greg, husband of Colleen Steinmetz of Lititz; sister, Shelby, wife of Paul Mohler of Stevens; brothers, Ronald, husband of Doris Reese of Akron, and David Reese of Ephrata; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from Myerstown U.C.C., 306 W. Main Ave., Myerstown. There will be no viewing. Family will receive friends Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment at Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VA Hospice, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
