Ardell Casada, 87 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, May 24th, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Ardell was born on March 20th, 1923 in Wayne County, Kentucky, son of Eli Casada and Ruthie Mary Keith Casada. He retired after 16 years of service from the Kentucky State Highway Department, he was the co-owner and operator of Casada's Used Furniture, and a lifetime farmer. He was a deacon and member of the Old Fashion Faith Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky. He played guitar and sang in a quartet on the radio for over 28 years.
Ardell was survived by three sons, Lonnie K. (and Geneva) Casada, Glenn Thomas (and Nancy) Casada, and Donnie Lynn Casada; two granddaughters, Dee Dee (and Bryan) Shoaff and Shelly (and Brian) Burkhardt; three great-granddaughters, Kayla Shoaff, Ashlyn Shoaff, and Kristan Burkhardt; three great-grandsons, Seth Burkhardt, Noah Burkhardt, and Luke Shoaff; one brother, Farris (and Virginia) Casada; twelve nieces and eight nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Ruthie Casada; his loving wife of 65 years, Pauline Mitchell Casada, whom he married on January 4th, 1944 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, and who departed this life on September 13th, 2009; one son, Ralph Eugene Casada, who departed this life in infancy; one granddaughter, Marcie Casada; two brothers, Harley Casada and Larry Casada; and three sisters, Delsa New, Hazel Jones, and Myrtle Jones.
Visitations were held after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26th, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 27th, 2010 in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Taylor and Bro. J.S. New officiating.
Burial followed in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in the Kidder community of Wayne County, Kentucky.
