Obituary in the Oregonian, Sunday, November 2, 1952, page 31:

"MRS. JOHN SCHNEIDER - Funeral services for Mrs. John (Mary M.) Schneider will be Monday. The cortege will leave the chapel of McGinnis & Wilhelm at 9:20 a.m., thence to St Agatha's church, S.E. 15th and Nehalem streets, where requiem mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Mount Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Schneider died Thursday at Providence hospital. She was born at Watervliet, Mich., February 22, 1878, and spent her early life near Russell, Kansas. She moved to Oregon in 1894. On May 1, 1896, she and John Schneider were married in Portland. They celebrated their golden anniversary May 1, 1846.

Survivors include her husband of Portland, Mrs. Leta Rooklidge of Portland and Mrs. Eva M. Heiny of Chicago, Ill., two granddaughters, Mrs. Patricia Dawson, Santa Rosa, Cal., and Mrs. Jacquelin wilson, Antelope, Or.; a grandson, Chester H. Rooklidge Jr., Portland; sisters, Mrs. Eva Woolworth, Portland, Miss Clara Frossard, Seattle, and Mrs. Myrtle Lilley, Los Angeles.

Mrs. Schneider was a long-time resident of the Sellwood district and was one of those who petitioned for the founding of St. Agatha's Catholic parish in that area. She was a member of the altar society of that church.

Recitation of the rosary will be at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chester H. Rooklidge . . . , Sunday at 7 p.m."
