Asbury Coke Johnson was born on June 27, 1843, in Illinois. My guess is that he was named after two prominent members of the Methodist church: Francis Asbury and Thomas Coke. From what I can tell, there were a lot of children named after these two people in the early 1800s.
Asbury moved to Missouri around 1886. A newspaper from Decatur, Illinois published February 11, 1886 says Asbury went to Webb City, MO to visit relatives. He married Nancy Eva Eurit on November 3, 1886 in Jasper County, MO. Did he meet her during his trip in February?
Their first two kids were born in Kansas, the rest were born in Missouri.
His wife died in 1904 and Asbury died in 1930.
