Helen Joyce Acord
Helen Joyce Acord of Lester, one of God's Special Angels, was called home to be with the Lord and her sister that loved her dearly on Sunday, May 23, 2010, following a sudden illness. She was 68 years of age.
Born on January 30, 1942, at Bolt, she the daughter of the late John and Minnie Acord. A brother, William "Bill" Acord, and a sister, Myrtle "Blackie" Goff, who loved and took care of Helen all her life, preceded her in death.
Helen was of the Baptist faith; she will be remembered as a very lovely and wonderful women who enjoyed listening to music, watching television and loved spending time with her loved ones.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother-in-law, Russell Goff, with whom she made her home and who took care of her. Helen was also blessed to have her nephews and nieces, Russell "JR" Goff and his wife Phylicia, Phillip Goff, Stanley Goff, Robert "Bobby" Goff and his companion, Lisa Brown, Wesley Goff and his wife, Alicia, Joe Hudson, Martha Pettrey who also took care of Helen, Cindy Duncan and her companion, Randy Snuffer, and Bobbie Jo Goff and her companion, Daniel Koehler.
On Wednesday, May 26th, we will remember the life of this sweet spirit with a service at 1 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Lowe officiating. Helen will then be taken to the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity where she will be laid to rest beside her dear sister, Blackie. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be: Russell "JR" Goff, Stanley Goff, Robert "Bobby" Goff, Wesley Goff, Luke Goff and Barry Brown.
