DEATH TAKES MOTHER OF HARRISON SHERIFF
Mrs. M. Etna I. Mattern, 62, prominent resident of Cadiz, died at midnight Saturday at the home of her son, Sheriff J. Elmo Mattern, after a long illness. She had been seriously ill for the past two weeks.
Deceased was a lifelong resident of Harrison county and the widow of Dr. J. H. Mattern, who died about 14 years ago. She was a member of Cadiz Methodist church, active in the affairs of that congregation, and for years a teacher in the Sunday school. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge.
Surviving are two sons, Sheriff J. Elmo Mattern, with whom she had made her home for the past year, and R. Neil Mattern, state game protector; also six granddaughters.
Funeral services are incomplete, but probably will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. W. E. Patterson, pastor. Interment will be made in Cadiz cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Etna I. Mattern, mother of Sheriff Elmo Mattern of Harrison county and R. Neil Mattern, Harrison county conservation officer, were held at 2 p.m. today in Cadiz Methodist church, with Rev. W. C. Patterson officiating. Burial was made in Cadiz cemetery.
