John was the son of Orrin and Sylvia Diana (King) Freeman and was born on the family farm located in Sperry Township, Clayton County, Iowa on August 1, 1872. He went with his parents in 1878 to Haddam, Washington County, Kansas where his father established a farm. Nine years later, the family moved to the small community of Yesler, Washington in April of 1889. Yesler is now part of the city of Seattle. John married Lydia Parker on August 4, 1910 in Seattle. Lydia was born on November 8, 1882. The couple had six children: Robert Parker (born May 22, 1911, did not marry), Alice (born November 9, 1912), John Myron (born August 28, 1914), Irene (born January 19, 1917), and twin girls who were born September 25, 1919 but both died on the same day. He lived in the Seattle-King County area where his children were born and raised. John died on January 11, 1941 at the age of seventy at Fall City, Washington. Lydia passed away in March 4, 1968. Lydia, Robert, Irene and her twin baby girls are all interred in the Fall City cemetery. Their son Robert died in 1992 at the age of eighty. Cemetery records his daughter Irene died in 1996 at the age of seventy-nine and is also interred at the Fall City cemetery.
