Private First Class William B. Copeland, 22, formerly a resident of Sheridan, died in Korea on January 15, as a result of gunshot wounds received while in action, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. Agnes Copeland, of 937 East Laurel Street, Reading, from the Army Department. Pfc. Copeland, from whom his mother had received a letter three days prior to his death, was a student at Newmanstown High School before moving to Reading where he attended the Reading High School. He enlisted in the armed service in 1948 and had served in Korea since July of 1950. Besides his mother, Mrs. Agnes Copeland, Pfc. Copeland is survived by his father, Benjamin Copeland; a sister, Rosalie, of Illinois; a sister, Annie, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. R. Jenkins, at home.
